Don’t Be Offended

We get hundreds of chances to be offended every week, but the good news is that you don’t have to take the offence. You do have the choice to block it out and see it for what it really is. When people offend you it rarely has anything to do with you, it’s usually about their own insecurities and struggles.

Today we get offended if we call someone and they don’t answer right away, we get offended when we send a mail and people don’t answer the same day, and if someone don’t like our Facebook or Twitter updates. We post something on Facebook and then we get few likes, then we check who’s online and see all the people who chose to not press the like button, and then we get offended. And we get especially offended if the ones we always press the like button to don’t press the like button when we post something.

Offence is hindering our spiritual growth and it’s really about a “pride problem”, the more pride you have, the more you’ll get offended. The more humility you got the less highly you think of yourself, and the more difficult it will be to offend you.

The next time you get the chance to be offended then pass the test by not taking the offence. And start thinking about what kind of “pride problems” you are struggling with and do your best to start working on them. Because the more humility and the less pride you have, the more blessings will come your way.

We know that God loves the meek and the humble and that they are the ones who will inherit the earth, so we should do our best to be gentle and humble people, who don’t get easily offended.

Matthew 5:5

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Psalm 37:11

But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.
